Moonwreck formed in late 2014 and quickly gained attention after being shortlisted for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition the following year, with Drowned in Sound describing their early demos as “Glistening reverb laden melodies with distinctive, haunting vocals”.

They’ve gigged throughout the north of England with the likes of Leeds-favourites Post War Glamour Girls, Battle Lines and Paddy Considine’s Riding the Low, as well as the odd festival appearance.

Their first release was on a compilation from Leeds’ based Hide & Seek Records, who boldly claimed the band to be “Whitby’s best export since Fish & Chips”. They then went on to record their first single with Lee Smith and Jamie Lockhart (The Cribs, Pulled Apart by Horses, iForwardRussia!, Submotion Orchestra), which included a headline launch show at Leeds Beckett University.

They’ve gained airplay on 6music, Sin Radio (Europe) and recorded a live session for BBC Introducing. After a short hiatus, the band are back in full-swing and will be recording their debut EP later this year, supported by a tour.
