Lightspeed Lover are a funk/rock/disco band from Kingston upon Hull. The 4-piece band bring an eclectic mix of sounds and an energetic upbeat presence to the stage taking influence from bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus and Rage Against the Machine.
The band currently consists of Pete English (guitar), Lewis Tillison (drums), Mikey Scott (bass) and Lu-Ku (vocals). Having cut their teeth at venues across the city, the band have become stalwarts of the local music scene with members of the band longstanding musicians, organisers and producers in the city of Hull.
Lightspeed Lover formed in 2014 with Mikey, Pete and Lewis, all of whom were big fans of upbeat funk and rock music. Within weeks, the band had written their first E.P “Attack of the Funktopuss” to which they were quick to develop on the Hull music scene by playing flamboyant shows at Humber Street Sesh, Freedom Festival and TribFest. With this, the band were quick to self-appoint the award of “Sexiest Band in Hull 2015”. After parting ways with their former singer, the band recruited Lu-Ku in February 2017 who had become a local legend with his solo acoustic shows.
With a new line up, Lightspeed Lover continued to play numerous shows across the country including tiny underground venues, large outdoor festivals and even a brewery!
With their debut album set for release later this year Lightspeed Lover are prepared for a frantic year of shows across the country should not to be missed!
